Welcome!

Ok, so here is how this blog will work. I will put out ballet dances from time to time for anybody to look at and learn. Most of the dances are easy or intermediate, but you can tell by looking at the bottom of the post. Also, most of the dances are good for either girls or boys to perform, but I am a girl, so there may be slightly more that are geared towards girls. A lot of them are solos, but I might put duets in there every once in a while. I really hope you enjoy this blog and I hope that it helps you grow as a ballet dancer!

New Contest!

Ok, so I have discovered a site where you can write your own music! My challenge, should you accept it, is to write a song using this program and submit it to me. The winner will have a dance choreographed to their song! Here is the site: http://musescore.org/ Now, the download is free, so nobody should have any problems. Good luck!

Popular from Wicked

Here is first a note. This is danced by one person, but in order for the song to make sense, there must be another person there as a "prop." Speaking of which, you will also need a chair, a hair brush, and a mirror. I also suggest you see the play. Not that it has anything to do with the choreography of the dance, it is just a really good play. If you have not seen the play or heard the music, I must tell you that it should be danced by two girls, so boys, you are out of luck! Of course, a boy could dance the part of Galinda, but the words really wouldn't make sense if the played Elphaba.

GLINDA:
Elphie, now that we're friends, I've decided to make you my new project!-Seats Elphaba
ELPHABA:
you really don't have to do that...
GALINDA:
i know, that's what makes me so nice!-Tendue, coupe
(Sung)
whenever i see someone less fortunate than i,-Slow pas de bourree
and let's face it, who isn't less fortunate than i?-Tendue front, rond de jambe, cross hands on chest
my tender heart tends to start to bleed.-pas de cheval up, bourree
and when someone needs a makeover,-step down into pas de bourree
i simply have to take over!-throw hands up
i know i know exactly what they need!-step forward, circle arms down to low 5th
and even in your case,-step forward, close sharp on “case”
though it's the toughest case I've yet to face,-nod on accents
don't worry, I'm determined to succeed!-coupe front leg, move back into quaze
follow my lead,-close, circle down to low 5th
and yes indeed, you will be...-coupe up, and back, and back, and back, finish in 5th
POPULAR! you're gonna be popular!-pas de bourree, pas de bourree
I'll teach you the proper ploys,-arabesque
when you talk to boys,-step down, turn
little ways to flirt and flounce, ooh!-turn, lift arms and left leg
I'll show you what shoes to wear!-step down, accent kick
how to fix your hair!-other side accent kick
everthing that really counts to be...-coupe back, close
POPULAR! I'll help you be popular!-pas de bourree, pas de bourree
you'll hang with the right cohorts,-arabesque
you'll be good at sports,-step down turn
know the slang you've got to know. -turn
so let's start, -walk towards Elphaba
'cause you've got an awfully long way to go!-pick up hair brush, start brushing
don't be offended by my frank analysis,-throw down brush, go into low arabesque, go up a little two times
think of it as personality dialysis,-go down, turn
now that I've chosen to become a- go into low arabesque, go up a little two times
pal, a sister and advisor,-brush back leg forward
there's nobody wiser!-step down
not when it comes to...-close, quick turn front
POPULAR! i know about popular.-pas de bourree, pas de bourree
and with an assist from me,-brush back leg forward
to be who you'll be,-relave
instead of dreary who you were...uh, are.-close, shrug
there's nothing that can stop you,-pas de bourree
from becoming populer... lar...-pas de bourree, go into b+
la la, la la!-chasse, coupe, chasse, coupe
we're gonna make you pop-u-lar!-pas de bourree, point, tendue left leg, relave, close
when i see depressing creatures,-balance left, balance right
with unprepossessing features,-pas de bourree, changema changema
i remind them on their own behalf-step up
to - think – of-pliea
celebrated heads of state,-balance, balance
or specially great communicators!-pas de bourree, changema, changema
did they have brains or knowledge?-step forward, flick head
don't make me laugh!-roll eyes
they were POPULAR!-rond de jambe
please! it's all about popular.-tilt back head, rond de jambe
it's not about aptitude,-attitude front
it's the way you're viewed,-arabesque back
so it's very shrewd to be,-rond de jambe front
very very popular like ME!-two quick changmas, cross hands on chest
why, miss Elphaba, look at you. You're beautiful!-give Elphaba mirror
ELPHABA:
i, i have to go...-Elphaba goes off stage
GALINDA:
you're welcome...-looks after, puzzled
and though you protest,-pas de bourree
your disinterest,-pas de bourree
i know clandestinely,-step forward, close
you're gonna' grin and bear it!-turn
you're new found popularity!-pas de basque
ah!
la la, la la!-chase coupe chase coupe
you'll be popular!-step forward
just not quite as popular as ME!-move arms up then cross over chest and collapse onto chair, picking up mirror and gazing

Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson

La la la la la la…-balance 6 times
Grew up in a small town-draw back leg up to passé
And when the rain would fall down-extend to arabesque
I'd just stare out my window-brush leg forward, turn
Dreaming of what could be-pas de bourree left
And if I'd end up happy-pas de bourree right
I would pray-tendue and rond de jambe

Trying hard to reach out- draw back leg up to passé
But when I tried to speak out- extend to arabesque
Felt like no one could hear me- develope front and place in 5th
Wanted to belong here- pas de bourree left
But something felt so wrong here- pas de bourree right
So I prayed I could break away- tendue and rond de jambe, tendue and rond de jambe

[Chorus:]
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly-outstretch arms, draw up to passé, bring leg down while turning
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky-pas de bourree then rond de jambe front leg back
And I'll make a wish-balance once
Take a chance-balance once
Make a change-balance once
And breakaway-draw back leg up to passé and extend to arabesque
Out of the darkness and into the sun-rond de jambe in air back to 5th
But I won't forget all the ones that I love-pas de bourree
I'll take a risk-balance once
Take a chance-balance once
Make a change-balance once
And breakaway-draw back leg up to passé and extend to arabesque

la la la la la …-- balance 3 times
Wanna feel the warm breeze- draw back leg up to passé
Sleep under a palm tree-extend to arabesque
Feel the rush of the ocean-brush leg forward, turn
Get onboard a fast train-pas de basque
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)-pas de basque then rond de jambe to 5th
And breakaway-draw back leg up to passé and extend to arabesque

[Chorus]

Buildings with a hundred floors-turn quickly
Swinging around revolving doors-turn quickly in opposite direction
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but-pas de basque then pas de cheval up and close
Gotta keep moving on, moving on-turn once in each direction
Fly away, breakaway-pas de basque then pas de cheval up and close

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly- outstretch arms, draw up to passé, bring leg down while turning
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye- pas de bourree then rond de jambe front leg back
I gotta take a risk- balance once
Take a chance- balance once
Make a change- balance once
And breakaway- draw back leg up to passé and extend to arabesque
Out of the darkness and into the sun- rond de jambe in air back to 5th
But I won't forget the place I come from- pas de bourree
I gotta take a risk- balance once
Take a chance- balance once
Make a change- balance once
And breakaway, breakaway, breakaway-turn, pas de cheval off
